Dear iPrep Stakeholders,
THE ADVENTURE AWAITS: BE A GLOBAL INFLUENCER!
The selection of our 2024-2025 school year’s theme was intentional and is directly aligned to the very important work that we will take on this year to forge an identity that is aligned to our Global Magnet.
This Summer, we held an incredibly productive Think Tank Session with staff to discuss how we can infuse our global magnet focus into our curriculum school-wide in order to develop global competency within our students by providing our teachers with a comprehensive framework to follow.
During our Think Tank session, we also discussed what we can do collectively to promote student retention…not by competing with or duplicating the offerings of other schools, but instead creating an academic and social experience that no other school offers.
Our work this year will be driven by four progressive student learning global outcomes that we will implement beginning in Pre-Kindergarten and continue infusing throughout our students’ middle and high school years. And as you heard earlier, those student learning global outcomes are: Appreciation for Diversity, Cultural Understanding, Global Knowledge and Global Engagement.
In order for this work to be successful, every teacher and every support staff must embrace our Magnet focus and embrace the framework through which we will infuse the student learning global outcomes in our respective curricula.
We’ve already identified iPrep teachers who will serve as our Curriculum Ambassadors to support our teachers so that this work is not done in isolation.
As part of the student retention piece of this initiative, I am excited to share some of the exciting activities we are planning for teachers and students:
- End of year Grade level field trips and experiences that are aligned to developing Global Competency…as well as field trips/experiences throughout the year that promote community service at the local, national and international level. This includes:
- Local field trips for elementary students, national field trips for middle school students and international global community service experiences for our high school students.
- Our Advanced Academics Team will work on developing individual student pathways for 7th – 12th grade students
- And we will work towards our goal of having EVERY eligible graduating senior graduate with a high school diploma, an AA degree and a designation from an internationally recognized global community service organization recognizing the work our seniors have done during their academic career at iPrep.
We’re diverse in many ways: our backgrounds, experiences and curriculum expertise. What we have in common is the fact that all of us want our students to leave us as better human beings and to be confident as they become the best version of themselves.
I look forward to an exceptional year filled with cross-curricular conversations and collaboration.
